Description

The three-day course material has been mapped and designed to meet the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for the installation of generally domestic-sized photovoltaic systems that are currently available in the UK which are connected to a single phase, grid-connected electrical supply under Engineering Recommendation G83/1.

Awareness is provided of connections to 3 phase supplies but the course excludes any system installed under Engineering Recommendation G59/2.

The installation of these domestic photovoltaic systems is work that can be carried out by competent, qualified operatives holding appropriate pre-requisite qualifications and the aim of the training course is to ensure individuals have the knowledge and required skills to carry out this work.

The course is recognised as a demonstration of competence for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

Prerequisites

  • BS 7671: 2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition) Certification if not included in the above qualification AND
  • Trainees can also enrol for the course if they meet the requirements of the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS). Also by providing 2 years’ experience with demonstrable evidence as well as being a member of a Competent Person Scheme (CPS)
